Silk Ceramic Enhancement Spray Application Guide
IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER
Please read safety information on the label / box prior to use.
SURFACE PREPARATION
Upon preparation for effective adhesion and therefore longevity, preparing
the surface for all Aqueous Guard® products is essential and using the
Aqueous Guard® products alone will only achieve a short-lived final finish.
Aqueous Guard® products cross-link to the surfaces that they are applied to.
Surface cleaning is an essential part of the process to ensure that there is no
contamination between the product and the surface to be protected.

RAIN & WIND
Aqueous Guard® Silk should be applied in a clean, dry
environment with no rain forecast for a minimum 1-hour period if application
is outside. During stronger winds the area should be covered before coating
is carried out.

TEMPERATURE
AVOID APPLYING IN DIRECT SUN LIGHT, where possible. For the Silk it should be applied in an ambient temperature above 5°C and no
higher than 40°C. This temperature range also applies to the surface
temperature of the substrate and temperature must stay within these
parameters for a minimum of 1 hour following application.

STEP 1:
PREPARATION CLEAN AND DE-CONTAMINATION
TO REMOVE ANY CONTAMINATION
Using a Aqueous Guard® Prep Fluid, thoroughly de-contaminate the surface,
removing any residues from stickers, tree sap, waxes, silicones and any other
contamination; otherwise it will be sealed in with the protective layer. For
heavily contaminated surfaces or used surfaces a polishing compound may
be required.

APPLYING PREP FLUID
1. Start by wiping the entire surface to decontaminate and remove any
waxes / silicones.
2. Use a dry wipe / soft cloth to remove the excess fluid, creating a clean,
contaminant free, dry surface.
3. If a cloth becomes dirty / black replace with a fresh cloth.
4. With this process you are looking to thoroughly clean and decontaminate
the surfaces to be treated to ensure a complete bonding
of the Aqueous Guard® product.
5. It is important that the finish of the surface at this point is to your / the
clients’ satisfaction. If not, then full polishing of the surface will need to
be carried out and then steps 1-4 will need to be done again.

STEP 2:
APPLYING AQUEOUS GUARD® SILK CERAMIC ENHANCEMENT SPRAY
1. Take a fresh micro fibre cloth or application pad and dampen with the
Silk. Do not over dampen the cloth / pad.
2. Apply the coating using a cross hatch method ensuring on each panel to
work horizontally, then vertically, for an even spread of product.
3. When coating you want to see the product going on to the surface then
evaporating in areas.
4. Shortly after applying, take a clean microfibre cloth and go back to the
point where coating started.
5. Now gently buff all the areas that have been coated in order to remove
the excess residue, until a uniform streak free appearance is achieved.
Ensure the buffing process is light and only excess residue is being
removed. Do not apply to large areas at a time or leave the product on
for too long as the surface may become cloudy. The surface should feel
very slick when applied correctly.
6. Once you have finished, repeat the process on your next surface area
continuing as above. The surface should have a slippery feel once
correctly applied.

TIP – DO NOT OVER APPLY, The Aqueous Guard® Silk as it goes a long way ( less is more ) and over application will cause streaking and smears. These can be removed by following the cleaning process.
